 2. NGFS TODAY
RICH will conduct gunnery shoots today alternately with the
BORDELON between 1500 and 2000.  Both the port and starboard sections
will be exercised, hopefully, twice.
Keep in mind that this will be our last practice firing.  Upon
completion of the NGFS firing about 2000, the ship will depart for
the Tonkin Gulf and all guns shoots then will be the real thing.  Let's
get the most out of today's practice firing.

 3. SPECIAL REQUESTS
Some people may have forgotten with the policy on board RICH is
concerning special request chits.  If any RICHMAN submits a special
request chit and does not receive it back within one wee, he may
go directly to the Captain and ask about it.

 4. FLAG BAG FIRE
A fire occurred on the signal bridge in a flag bag last week while
anchoring in Subic Bay.  The fire was caused by carelessness because
someone's cigarette didn't make it over the side and landed in the
flag bag.  The damage came to $660 which must be made up out of the
ship's operating fund, which is already depleted.
The ship will shortly be operating in a combat environment and
carelessness like this cannot be tolerated.  There is no room for
carelessness in the war zone.  So, if you must smoke, be careful!

 5. The following Thanksgiving message has been received from the
Secretary of the Navy:
"Navy and Marine Corps men and women and their families will
celebrate this Thanksgiving aboard ships and stations here in the
United States and in overseas areas far from home, wherever the
service of our country finds you, you must know that the warmth,
and richness of the celebration we all enjoy on this traditional
American holiday is sustained by one of God's blessings - our freedom,
you are the pillar upon which that freedom rests.
May God grant you the peace of mind that comes from knowing
the importance of the role you fulfill.
I join all Americans in expressing heartfelt thanks to each of
you who make this day possible.
My personal best wishes to you and your families for a joyous
day of thanksgiving."
                                    JOHN W. WARNER
                                    SECRETARY OF THE NAVY

 6. LIFEJACKETS
All hands are reminded to check you battle stations for the presence
of an adequate number of lifejackes.  For the personnel in that area.
Never assume that a lifejacket is yours to use simply because a life-
jacket happens to be stowed there.  Know who will be using those life-
jackets stowed at your battle station and where other spare lifejackets
are located should the need for others arise.  Report any discrepancies
to the First Lieutenant today after securing from General Quarters.

 7. MAIL
Mail will close out on board at 0700 this morning.
