NOTES:
1. SECOND DAY ON GUNLINE
Yesterday
was a supposedly typical day on the gunline with RICH
firing over 300 rounds
of ammunition. A WELL DONE is in order for
all hands because we received
many compliments from the spotters that
were directing our fire.
2. TODAY
Today should
be somewhat of a repeat of yesterday except that we
will probably meet FLINT
and re-ar,. This will also require the
cooperation of all hands
in order to get the ammunition on board and
stowed below. We
will probably receive over 500 rounds from the FLINT
by the time we rondezous.
Mail will leave the ship tomorrow when we
re-arm and will close out
on board shortly after we depart the gunline
to join FLINT.
3. SWEEPDOW & CLAMPDOWN
This is a
busy period for all of us without any spare time. However
in order to keep the ship
habitable, it must be kept clean. Therefore
a sweepdown and clampdown
inside the ship will be accomplished by the
off-going NGFS team after
breakfast and after lunch. It is essential
that the messing and berthing
spaces be kept clean.
4. NET LAUNDRY BAGS
Due to the
increased time needed to wash and dry clothes in net
laundry bags, these bags
will be limited to use by E-6 personnel
and above. Absolutely
no clothes will be accepted in net bags by the
laundry from E-5 personnel
and below. There will be no exceptions
to this rule.

KISSINGER:
Henry
Kissinger will return to Paris next Sunday and resume
his peace talks with Hanoi's
Le Duc Tho the following day.
During nine-days of negotiations,
the White House envoy will
be staying in Washington,
and a spokesman says he'll join in
talks early this week between
President Nixon and an envoy from
South Vietnam's President
Thieu.
Kissinger
and Nixon appeared grim after their one-hour
meeting in New York Saturday
night. But the White House
said President Nixon remains
confident of a Vietnam settlement,
despite gloomy news reports
about the Paris talks.
