From Chuck Weber, your Veteran Service Officer...

Tidbits for April 2022
  1. VA Budget – The administration has proposed a 20% increase in VA Budget for fiscal year 2023 (begins 1 Oct 2022).  They expect an 8 % increase in VA health care patient visits and a 7& increase in VA authorized community health care patient visits.
  1. VA Infrastructure - The VA plans on closing or completely rebuilding 35 health care facilities in 21 States. Also, 14 new major VA hospitals would be built along with 140 multi-specialty community-based outpatient clinics.  There is a lot of study, reviews and congressional approval required before any of this happens.  So if it appears that an action is happening in your area, be sure to let you congressional representatives know how you feel about it, either way.
  1. A second Covid booster shot (that’s for a total of four if you are counting) has been approved by the federal government for those over 50 years of age.  So, if you are inclined, contact the VA or your health care provider to sign up.
  1. Home Depot’s new Discount - Now, all veterans who haven’t been dishonorably discharged are eligible for the discount every day, and both active-duty members and veterans are required to be verified. To get the discount, those eligible must create an account and verify their eligibility through Sheer ID by going to https://www.homedepot.com/c/military/?cm_sp=vanity-_-military-_-OCT21
