ORLECK making progress

The USS ORLECK (DD 886) is making great progress in her trek to a new and permanent homeport in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The ORLECK, a Gearing class destroyer is nearly identical to RICH

Final preparations are being made for her short trip from her birthplace in Orange, Texas to Lake Charles. In Lake Charles plans are being made for her arrival where she will be berth at a prominent site along Interstate 10. She is scheduled to arrive in late March, 2009.

From the ranks of the USS RICH crew, plans are being made to form a contingent of shipmates to be in Lake Charles for her arrival. If you are interested in being a part of this activity, contact the Ship's Office.
