Veterans Now Have Access to Military-Only Discount Travel Deals |
The travel website, a joint venture of Morale, Welfare and Recreation,
or MWR, and online travel agency Priceline, offers customers discounts
of up to 60% off regular prices on most travel and events. The site is
available to active-duty troops, Guard and Reserve members and honorably
discharged veterans, among others.
The website provides reservations at more than 60,000 hotels worldwide,
reduced change fees on flight reservations, free cancellation on car
rentals, and weekly cruise emails that give you early access to limited
time offers. Event tickets have no service charges, shipping fees or
other hidden charges.
"Sixteen million veterans will now be able to access the American Forces
Travel website, joining the 10 million active-duty, Guard and reserve
service members, family members, DoD civilians, and other patrons who
are already receiving the benefit," said Deputy Assistant Secretary of
Defense for Military Community and Family Policy Patricia "Patty" Montes
Barron. "We are committed to providing quality-of-life programs to our
military community, which includes our honorably discharged veterans."
According to the press
release making the announcement, increasing the number of
eligible customers will allow American Forces Travel to negotiate even
larger discounts for travel in the future. The partnership between MWR
and Armed Forces Travel also provides much needed funds for the MWR
program and its quality-of-life programs on military installations
across the world.
Registration is quick and easy, and all purchases come with Priceline's
Best Price Guarantee. For more information, or to purchase your travel or event tickets, visit the American Forces Travel website. Proof of eligibility is required.
