2. L.S.D. Facts and Fantasy
What
do you know about L.S.D.? L.S.D. or LYSERGIC ACID DIETHYLAMIDE
is an
extremely potent chemical discovered by a research Doctor named
HOFFMAN
in 1938. It has become involved in such a controversy in the
past
few years that the drug company making almost all legal L.S.D.
handed
its entire supply over to the National Institute of Mental Health
in April
1966. It occurs naturally in morning glory seeds and was used
in that
form as long ago as 1570 by the Aztec Indians. However the great
majority
of L.S.D. is synthesiezed by illicit chemists and may or may not
contain
poisonous substances. Initially it was felt that the effects of
L.S.D.
were very similiar to Schizphrenia (insanity) and woule lead to
further
insight and possibly a cure for the dreaded, relatively common
and
serious disease. However, after over 200 Medical Reports it has
become
obvious that the resemblance is only superficial and the acute
and
long term side effects of LSD are very disturbing and may even cause
a relatively
normal person to become Schizphrenic.
