2019 Ship's Reunion

                                            A Viable Alternative

Despite the cancelling of the reunion, there are those among our ranks who felt the need to fulfill our responsibility to those shipmates who had passed over the passed year. This time-held tradition, would would have been delayed for another year if it were not for modern technology which allows us to do things that heretofore were not possible.

In the tradition of our ship and its "Can Do" mantra, we employed today's resources and created the ability to hold a "virtual" Memorial Service.

On Thursday, May 7th, the originally scheduled date, we conducted a Virtual Memorial Service. Attendees consisted of shipmates who had registered for the 2020 Reunion, shipmate widows and their families and several invited guests.   The result was a wonderfully touching service with a social period following the service.

It became abundantly clear this effort opened a new door of possibilities in remaining connected with our shipmates.
